Health & Safety Policies

• Masks- Chapel Hill Early Childhood Education masking policy effective October 4, 2021: Masks shall be mandatory for staff and encouraged for students. Both staff and students shall be provided with masks while at school.

• Social Distancing- Classroom seating shall be arranged to promote social distancing to the greatest extent feasible with consideration given the space and the number of children.

• Daily Health Screenings Staff & Children- All staff and students shall participate in daily health screenings prior to arriving at school. An Illness Decision Tree is provided as a reference. Temperature checks are conducted on all individuals who enter our facilities.

• Illness at School- If a child becomes ill while at school, the parent/guardian shall be contacted immediately and instructed to follow the Illness Decision Tree. There shall be separate rooms for children who display symptoms of COVID-19 and children who have unrelated illnesses. All children who become ill at school shall wear a mask until an authorized adult picks them from school.

• Positive COVID-19 Exposure & Cases- Chapel Hill Early Childhood Education shall follow the Detroit Department of Health guidance for reporting positive COVID-19 cases and exposures. The Building Principal shall inform families and staff that have been directly impacted.  

• School Closures- Chapel Hill Early Childhood Education shall post school closures on our website and through the media when appropriate.

• Building Access- Entry and access to our school facilities shall be limited to staff and students. All visitors shall have appointments and shall complete a health screening prior to entry and report to the office. Access to our classrooms shall be limited and shall be communicated prior to the appointment.

• Cleaning & Sanitation- Chapel Hill Early Childhood Education cleans and sanitizes high touch areas throughout the day, in addition to regular janitorial cleaning. Deep Specialized Cleaning & Sanitation (COVID Cleaning) shall be completed after each COVID -19 closure.
